The Future Curriculum
For more than a decade, Future Academies has been developing curriculum materials that give coherence and ambition to learning across our schools. In 2012 we established The Curriculum Centre to work with subject leaders at Pimlico Academy to design a knowledge-rich curriculum with clear purpose.
Since then, our primary and secondary teachers have continued to research and author programmes that are culturally broad and rooted in deep subject expertise. The Curriculum Centre now underpins a shared curriculum across multiple subjects. Through subject networks and a subject leadership structure focused on what students learn and why, our schools collaborate to deliver a carefully sequenced, cumulative learning journey. This collective model ensures pupils experience coherent progression while teachers benefit from targeted, subject-specialist professional development.
A Research-Driven, Knowledge-Rich Approach
Our curriculum is built on the foundations of cognitive science and the best of educational research. It is written by expert teachers who combine subject mastery with practical classroom insight. This ensures that the materials are not only academically rigorous, but also accessible, engaging, and effective for pupils at all levels.
We take a memory-focused approach to curriculum design. Knowledge is sequenced and revisited deliberately to ensure that learning is retained over time. We understand that learning is not a one-off event, but a process of strengthening and organising what pupils know so they can apply it with confidence and independence.
Beyond academic rigour, our curriculum is culturally rich. We select texts, topics, and content that reflect the best of human thought and creativity, ensuring that pupils encounter perse voices, global perspectives, and ideas that inspire curiosity, empathy, and ambition.
A Collaborative Model for Excellence
Future Academies' curriculum model is more than a set of documents; it is a collaborative framework that supports teachers and drives professional development. Each subject is supported by a Trust Subject Network, led by experienced educators who provide training, coaching, and curriculum guidance to departments across our schools.
This networked approach means that curriculum development is continuous and informed by feedback. Teachers are empowered to refine delivery, share best practice, and support each other’s growth. Shared assessment and moderation processes help us maintain consistency, identify strengths, and intervene where improvement is needed.
By bringing teachers together across the Trust, we ensure that our pupils benefit from the collective expertise of a wide, committed professional community, all working towards one goal: a world-class education for every child.
Curriculum Partnerships
Future Academies collaborates with schools outside of the trust through its Curriculum Partnerships.
