Update from Future Academies
FUTURE ACADEMIES CEO TO STEP DOWN
Paul Smith appointed as new CEO of The White Horse Federation
Future Academies (Future) announces that Paul Smith, who has led the trust for the past seven years, will be leaving at the end of the academic year to join The White Horse Federation.
Under Paul’s leadership the trust has grown from four schools with approximately 2000 pupils to 10 schools with approaching 7000 pupils. Paul is now moving to an even larger trust. We thank him for all his excellent work over the last seven years and wish him all the very best for the future.
The process of recruiting his successor has begun and an appointment will be announced in due course.
Over the last few years Future has made some excellent appointments at senior leadership level and we look forward to the future with confidence.
Future’s core vision is of an excellent knowledge rich curriculum, strong teacher training and an extensive education enrichment programme.
Our knowledge rich curriculum is supported by our Curriculum Centre, employing 15 people, which develops extensive teaching materials to support our hard-working teachers. We have recently been awarded the prestigious £4 million Latin for Excellence programme by the DfE to roll out Latin to multiple schools. We are also working with schools outside the trust to develop our Curriculum Centre Partnerships to take our curriculum to a wider audience. As OFSTED increasingly focuses on a coherent, sequenced curriculum, this has been very well received.
We continue to recruit high quality subject specialist graduates into our outstanding rated teacher training facility, Future Teacher Training, which has been rated the best in the South of England by the Good Teaching Guide. Many of the teachers that it trains are placed in our schools, and many of these have gone on to be rapidly promoted up the leadership spine.
Our extensive education enrichment programme offers a wide range of experiences for our students ranging from careers advice, cultural enrichment activities, residential trips, speakers, extra sport and music and much more. It is supported by enrichment coordinators in each secondary school and by a head office team.
Lord and Lady Nash, Founders of Future Academies said:
“It has been a pleasure working with Paul over the last seven years and we wish him all the best for the future. Under his leadership the trust has grown significantly and substantially improved the performance of a number of schools, thereby improving the life chances of many children and young people.”
Paul Smith, CEO of Future said:
“It’s been an absolute privilege to lead Future over the last seven years, and I’m very proud of what the whole team has achieved during that time. Future is a wonderful group of schools, united in their common belief in the power of a knowledge-rich curriculum to transform lives. I have every confidence that Future will go from strength to strength over the coming years and continue to play an important role in the sector as a centre for curriculum excellence.
"I would like to thank my colleagues throughout the Trust for their work and dedication during my time. I would also like to thank our Governors and Directors for their support and, in particular, Lord and Lady Nash for their passion and expertise.”
