Future Training is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in all areas and sets a new standard in school-based teacher training and mentoring. In 2017 the Good Teacher Training Guide rated us the top ITT provider in London, and the third best provider in the UK. For many years we have worked with the Institute of Education at UCL to deliver the Post Graduate Certificate in Education. The IOE is a world leader in this field.
This year we have 33 high-quality trainee teachers who have got off to a great start in their placement schools, mostly within Future Academies, as well as a few other schools that we work with, including West London Free School, Bobby Moore Academy and Tri Borough Alternative Provision (TBAP).
We also have the Future Teach Scholarship which provides exceptional graduates from top universities with outstanding subject knowledge to train to teach with us. Eligible candidates receive an extremely competitive bursary of £29,000, and also have their £9,250 tuition fee paid for. All teachers in this route continue to work within the trust during their NQT year and experience rapid progression.
We help high-calibre teachers gain Qualified Teacher Status and the PGCE through our year-long School-centred Initial Teacher Training programmes which applicants apply for through UCAS. Throughout this training applicants will:
- Train at one school for the majority of the course, supplemented by three shorter placements within a different phase, contrasting setting and in an alternative provision.
- Receive weekly training from expert teachers.
- Take guidance from carefully selected subject specialist mentors who are trained in identifying specific, actionable feedback that will move their practice forwards.
- Gain QTS and a PGCE through one of our university partners.
Trainees are assigned a mentor who supports them in their school. They also gather evidence onto an OUTSET portal, where they build and develop their online portfolio over the course of the year to demonstrate how they are meeting the standards.
